Theobald, Smith Win Titles, Men's Track & Field Fifth at NCAC

Senior Trey Theobald (Archbold) and sophomore Connor Smith (Marysville) won North Coast Athletic Conference titles in leading Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by DePauw University on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.

Wabash won the meet with 172½ points to 137½ for Denison.  Wittenberg was third with 130½ points, followed by DePauw (110), Ohio Wesleyan (83½), Oberlin (69), Wooster (52), Kenyon (40), and Hiram (24).

Theobald won the javelin with a throw of 205-2.  It marked Theobald's third consecutive all-conference citation in the event.

Smith won the high jump by clearing 6-9½.  Smith also teamed with senior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), junior Jake Marzulli (Medina), and junior Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut) for a fifth-place finish in the 1600-meter relay.

All-NCAC honors also went to sophomore Joel Adade (Columbus/Beechcroft), who finished third in the 100-meter dash and added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash; and senior Coleman Kegler (Columbus/Upper Arlington), who placed third in the javelin.

The Bishop 400-meter relay team of Adade, Smith, freshman Nate Snead (Sunbury/Big Walnut), 
and junior Joe Larkins (Cleveland/Ginn Academy) also won all-conference laurels with a third-place finish.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Michael Hess (Painesville/Fairport Harding), who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles; sophomore Dylan Harper (Marysville), who placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles; sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), who was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles; freshman Dominic Brown (Marysville), who placed seventh in the javelin; and Tripp, who finished eighth in the 400-meter dash.
