Grogan Receives Special Award; 5 Bishops All-NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan University junior Abbie Grogan (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) received a special award as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse teams, it was announced today by the NCAC.

Grogan, a defender, was named Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice.  Grogan is the fourth Ohio Wesleyan player to receive the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award.

Sophomore attacker Brie Colangelo (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School) also was a first-team All-NCAC selection, senior attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) was a second-team all-conference pick, and junior attacker Sam Frary (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter) and senior defender Sammy Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) were third-team All-NCAC choices.

Grogan and Johnson were starters in an Ohio Wesleyan defense that ranks third in the NCAC in goals-against average (9.81).  Individually, Grogan leads the league in caused turnovers (50) and ranks second in the NCAC in ground balls (62) and third in draw controls (100).  Grogan leads the NCAC and ranks 15th in NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.94).  Johnson ranks fourth in the conference in caused turnovers (30) and seventh in ground balls (42).  Grogan was a first-team All-NCAC selection last year and a third-team all-conference choice in 2023.  Johnson was a second-team all-conference pick last season.

Colangelo leads the league in assists (41) and points per game (4.59), and ranks second in the NCAC in points (78) and 12th in goals (37).

Fleming ranks second in the NCAC in goals (54), third in points (72), and 10th in assists (18).  Fleming was a third-team All-NCAC selection last year.

Frary is tied for eighth in the NCAC in goals (39) and is tied for 16th in points (45).

Ohio Wesleyan finished with an 11-6 overall mark and tied for third place in the NCAC standings with a 3-3 record.
