Five Bishops Named to All-Region Men's Lacrosse Teams; Silver, Coaching Staff Honored

Ohio Wesleyan University senior defenseman Wes Silver (Newton, Mass./Newton North) and the Battling Bishop coaching staff received special awards as part of the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association's All-Region 5 teams, it was announced by the IMLCA.

Silver was named Region 5 Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team all-region selection.

The Bishop coaching staff of head coach Mike Plantholt and assistants Doug Gorski, Justin Inacio, and Matt Rice was named Region 5 Coaching Staff of the Year.

In addition to Silver, senior long-stick midfielder Anthony Fresolone (Marblehead, Mass./Kimball Union Academy (N.H.)), sophomore attacker Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si), and senior midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) were first-team all-region selections, and sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) was a second-team all-region choice.

Fresolone and Silver were part of a defensive unit that ranked third in the North Coast Athletic Conference in goals-against average (9.89).  Individually, Fresolone and Silver shared the team lead and tied for seventh in the NCAC in caused turnovers (22) and Fresolone led Bishop defenders in ground balls (55).  Fresolone and Silver were first-team all-region selections last year.

Ross led the league in goals (51) and points (80) and tied for fourth in assists (29).  Ross was first-team all-region pick last season.

Wiseman led Bishop midfielders and tied for ninth in the NCAC in goals (38) this season.

Beckstrom ranked third in the NCAC in points (77) and assists (30) and was fourth in goals (47).  Beckstrom was an honorable mention all-region selection in 2024.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 15-4 record.  The Battling Bishops won the NCAC championship with an 8-0 record in conference play, won the NCAC tournament, and made their first NCAA Division III tournament appearance since the 2018 season.
