Miller Records Most Rebounds by a Bishop in 25 Years as No. 15/16 OWU Extends Win Streak to 10 Games

DELAWARE, Ohio – The 15th/16th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University women's basketball team welcomed Oberlin to town on Saturday afternoon for an NCAC showdown. The Battling Bishops soared out to a 10-point lead to end the first quarter, and controlled the game the rest of the way, taking down the Yeowomen 80–61 and extending their win streak to 10.

Junior Macy Miller pulled down 20 rebounds, the most by a Bishop in a game since 2000, when Katy Sturtz recorded 21 against Otterbein. Miller finished just three rebounds shy of the program record of 23, held by Lynn Cook (1984) and Jerilyn Bushong (1986).

With the win, OWU improves to 11-1 and remains undefeated within NCAC competition at 2-0. Oberlin falls to 5-7, and 1-1 in conference play.

The familiar foes traded baskets early and were tied at 13 before the Bishops found their rhythm, closing the first quarter on a 10-0 run led by Kendall Dieringer and Alyssa Griner, who scored three points apiece. OWU maintained control of the lead in the second quarter, but was outscored 14-13 by the Yeowomen, ultimately carrying a 36-27 advantage into halftime.

Out of halftime, Oberlin pulled within six for the first time since the opening quarter, but the comeback attempt stalled there. OWU answered immediately with a 9-0 run, fueled by six points from Alyssa Griner, to regain comfortable control. The Red and Black ended the third quarter with a 14-point lead over Oberlin, 59-45.

In the final period of play, Oberlin surged out on a 6-0 run, and cut the lead to eight with a little over seven minutes to play. However, that attempt was stalled once again, as OWU went on a 16-3 run to take a 21-point lead with three minutes to play. Oberlin was unable to respond, and the Bishops secured their second NCAC victory by a score of 80-61.
