Field Hockey Increases Win Streak to Four Against Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey team (13-4, 7-2 NCAC) traveled to play Wooster (4-9, 3-6 NCAC) on Wednesday evening. The Bishops increased their win streak to four with a 6-1 result over the Scots.

The Bishops started off hot in the first quarter when Emma Reynolds scored a goal in the third minute assisted by Grace Ammon. Reynolds followed up with a second goal at the end of the period in the 13th minute – yet again assisted by Ammon – to take the lead 2-0 going into the second quarter.

OWU outshot the Scots 23-1 in the first half and 12-0 in the second quarter alone. After 10 scoreless minutes, Reagan Shifflett finally snuck one past the keeper in the 25th – assisted by Annabel Fauver – to amplify the Bishops' lead to 3-0. Shortly after, Grace Ammon scored one herself to make it 4-0 in the 28th minute. Mary Powers managed to sneak in one more goal before the half, giving OWU a 5-0 lead in the 30th.

Wooster started the second half by getting a goal back, scoring in the 35th minute to make it 5-1. However, that was erased less than two minutes later by senior Mattison Hyland who gave the Bishops a 6-1 advantage on Ammon's third assist of the night.

OWU had nine more scoring opportunities in the fourth quarter but came up empty. Likewise, the Red and Black limited the Scots to just one shot which was also fruitless, resulting in a 6-1 final score.
