Second Half Spark Carries No. 11/10 Bishops Past Wooster on Senior Day

DELAWARE, Ohio – The 11th/10th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan women's basketball team welcomed Wooster to Branch Rickey Arena on Saturday, looking to build on back-to-back victories and ignite a new winning streak in the final stretch of the regular season. It was a back-and-forth affair early, but the Battling Bishops created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Wooster 19-10 over the frame to lift the squad over the Fighting Scots, 68-57.

Ohio Wesleyan advances to an impressive 20-2 overall, and moves to 11-1 within the NCAC. Wooster drops to 10-13, with a 2-10 mark in conference play.

Prior to the game, seniors Kendall Dieringer, Alyssa Griner, Mia Guscoff, Alexandria Magers, Katie Neuhart, and Carly Lehman were recognized for their contributions to the program. The group led the Bishops to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including a sweet sixteen appearance in 2025.

The familiar foes traded buckets in the opening minutes, but the Red and Black struggled to connect from three early on. The squad shot just 1-for-6 from behind the arc, and ultimately trailed Wooster 16-15 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Bishop defense found their footing, as they held Wooster to just eight points total. Maddie Ebbert took over in the period, pouring in eight points to propel the Red and Black to a five-point lead heading into the intermission.

The Bishops came out of the locker room with a bang, as they started the third quarter with a 11-2 run to quickly create a double-digit lead. The squad continued to widen the gap throughout the period, stretching the margin to as many as 16 points before heading into the final frame with a commanding 48-34 lead. Wooster attempted to chip away at the deficit in the final quarter, but the Bishop defense held firm. The Scots could pull no closer than 11 as Ohio Wesleyan cruised to a 68-57 victory.
