Bishops Struggle Against Dickinson, Fall 16-4

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team began their spring break Puerto Rico trip with a matchup with Dickinson on Tuesday. The Batting Bishops never found their footing in the contest, falling behind 6-1 in the first quarter, ultimately leading to their first setback of the season by a final of 16-4.

OWU falls to 4-1 on the year, while Dickinson improves to 4-2.

The Red Devils wasted no time, scoring four goals within the first nine minutes to take a 4-0 lead. Moments later, Emma Reynolds found the back of the net–courtesy of a feed from Brie Colangelo–to get the squad on the board. Dickinson tacked on two more before the end of the first to make it 6-1.

Dickinson separated themselves from Ohio Wesleyan in the second. Another four-goal run over a two minute span quickly made it 10-1 in favor of the Devils. Sam Frary scored with just under 10 minutes remaining, in hopes of chipping away at the deficit. However, Dickinson responded with two goals of their own to make it 12-2. Less than a minute later, Colangelo found the net herself. An OWU penalty led to the 13th first-half goal for Dickinson, and the Bishops found themselves trailing by 10 at the intermission.

Fresh out of the halftime break, Frary scored once again, and the comeback efforts were underway. Unfortunately for the Bishops, the offense went cold from there. The Devils tacked on three more goals in the second half to pull away for a 16-4 victory.
