Snyder Homers in Back-to-Back At-Bats; Bishops Fall to Capital

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University baseball team finally played their home-opener on Thursday afternoon, hosting Capital for a single nine-inning outing. The Battling Bishops stood strong in the early innings but would ultimately succumb to a 16-3 losing result. Alex Snyder drove the ball out of the park in both of his first two at-bats – the first Bishop to tally two homers in a game since Max Pershin against Wabash in 2023.

OWU drops to 6-7. Capital advances to 11-5.

Capital took an early 3-0 lead with eight batters coming to the plate and three scoring in the top of the first. The Bishops got one back in the bottom half with a Snyder homer to left, making it 3-1 before the Comets tallied two more with one each in the second and third innings.

Snyder started the scoring in the bottom of the third by smacking his second homer of the game to left to make it 5-2. Zane Vitense then reached on a single and worked his way to second on a wild pitch. Marcus Suwinski would get him in two batters later with a double to left center to narrow the deficit down to two at 5-3.

Unfortunately, two runs was as close as the Red and Black would come as Capital poured on four in the fifth, two in the sixth, and five in the seventh to force a seven-inning contest with a final score of 16-3.
