DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's tennis team continued conference play on Thursday, traveling to John Carroll University. The Battling Bishops struggled on the day, taking just one match and ultimately falling to the Blue Streaks 6-1.

OWU drops to 9-5 on the season, with a 1-3 record in NCAC competition. JCU advances to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The day started off with three losses in doubles play, giving the Blue Streaks one point. The duo of Mallory Hannan and Lily Hershey lost 6-3 in match one. Frankie Nuss and Emma Pzedpelski dropped the No. 2 doubles match by a score of 6-1. At the No. 3 spot, Daniela Guzman and Marissa Zaleski came up short, losing 6-2.

Singles play yielded similar results, with John Carroll claiming five of the six matches to secure five more points. Hannan put up a strong fight in the second set before falling 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. In lines two through five, Nuss (6-3, 6-1), Hershey (6-2, 6-1), Pzedpelski (6-1, 6-1), and Evaleigh Garnett (6-3, 6-1) all suffered straight-set defeats. However, Guzman provided a bright spot for the Bishops at No. 6 singles. After splitting the first two sets 7-5 and 4-6, Guzman outlasted her opponent 10-5 in a match tiebreaker to secure OWU's lone point, finalizing the 6-1 overall loss for the Red and Black.
