Frary Surpasses 100 Career Goals as Bishops Finish Season with Win at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team traveled to Oberlin for their season finale on Saturday evening, ending the year on a high note with a 15-10 win. The Battling Bishops wrap up the season 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the NCAC, dropping Oberlin to 10-7 and 1-6 in conference play.

The two sides traded goals to start off. Lila Hall opened the scoring at the 11:34 mark, followed by an answer from Oberlin about a minute-and-a-half later. OWU's first real lead came shortly thereafter with three quick-hitters from Sam Frary, Riley Riordan, and Hall, spanning just over a minute and 15 seconds from 9:55 to 8:37. Brie Colangelo and Frary would go back-to-back to end the quarter after OC's second, putting the Red and Black ahead 6-2 at the first break.

The Yeowomen narrowed the lead significantly in the second quarter with four goals compared to OWU's two. Brie Colangelo bookended the quarter to keep Ohio Wesleyan ahead 8-6 at the half. The Battling Bishops returned their lead to five goals in the third quarter, outscoring Oberlin 4-1. Riordan, Hall, Tiffany Trinh went three-straight to start the quarter with Frary scoring the fourth at the end of the quarter.

The Bishops matched the Yeowomen in the fourth quarter to secure the win. It was Frary, Colangelo, Frary in response to two Oberlin scores to start the period. OC scored another with nine seconds left, bringing the final scoreline to 15-10.

THE NUMBERS
OWU outshot Oberlin 34-24 overall and 28-16 in shots on target. On the defensive end, Ohio Wesleyan forced eight turnovers and picked up 22 ground balls, going 15-for-18 on clears in transition. The Bishops held the advantage on the draw at 15-11

Sam Frary led the Red and Black with five points all on goals, surpassing 100 career goals in her final game for the Battling Bishops. She also had two caused turnovers and one ground ball.'

Brie Colangelo grabbed four goals and one ground ball.

Lila Hall had four points on three goals and one assist with one ground ball.

Tiffany Trinh tallied a goal and an assist alongside two draw controls, three caused turnovers, and four ground balls.

Riley Riordan netted twice.

Emma Reynolds and Julia Kingsly both picked an assist. Reynolds led the team with seven draw controls while Kinglsy collected one.

Abbie Grogan grabbed five draw controls and six ground balls, with one caused turnover.

Jules Kyle had a caused turnover and a ground ball.

Dalaney Vaughn secured one ground ball.

Morgan Leeper (W, 9-6) played 57:34 and made six saves. Autumn Reed made an appearance for 2:26.
