Jon O'Haire

Jon O'Haire is in his second season as an assistant field hockey coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.  He works with the Battling Bishop goalkeepers.

Before coming to Ohio Wesleyan, O'Haire was goalkeeping coach at Miami (Ohio) University for 5 seasons, helping the RedHawks compile a 68-36 overall record and a mark of 34-3 in the Mid-American Conference, win 4 MAC tournaments, and make 5 NCAA tournament appearances.  Miami posted 11 shutouts during the 2018 season to lead NCAA Division I teams.  Concurrently, O'Haire was goalkeeping director for Field Hockey Life club.

He served for 5 years as community hockey manager for the Canterbury Hockey Association in Christchurch, New Zealand, working as goalkeeper coach for the New Zealand U-21 and U-18 men's team, the 2016 Junior World Cup team, and the CHA Representative teams.

Prior to New Zealand, O'Haire had 2 coaching stints at The Ohio State University.  He was associate head coach from 2005-11, helping the Buckeyes to a Big Ten title in 2006, a co-championship in 2010, runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2011, and a total of 5 NCAA tournament appearances.  He was an assistant coach at Ohio State from 1996-2000.

Between those tours with the Buckeyes, he was an assistant coach at Penn State University, helping the Nittany Lions to a national runner-up finish in 2002, a national quarterfinal appearance in 2003, and NCAA appearances in 2000 and 2005.

O'Haire also was goalkeeper coach for the United States U-21 and U-18 men's teams from 2018-2020, and previously worked with the United States Field Hockey Association, coaching in the futures development program, with the US Elite Team's men's and women's development programs, with the United States senior national team, and with the men's U-21 and U-18 national teams.

He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and continued his education at American University, earning a master's of education degree.  He was a goalkeeper for the U.S. men's national field hockey team in 1983 and from 1985-95.

O'Haire is a native of Coram, N.Y.
