Sonnieboy Blanco is in his third season as assistant wrestling coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Blanco came to Ohio Wesleyan from Thomas More (Ky.) University, where he was an assistant coach for 2 seasons.  He helped the Saints finish 36th in the nation and seventh in the Mid-South Conference in 2019-20, their first season of NAIA competition.  In 2018-19, he helped Thomas More record a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Division III championship meet.

He served as assistant coach and then acting head coach at Muhlenberg (Pa.) College during the 2017-18 academic year, helping the Mules to a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional and a seventh-place showing in the Centennial Conference.

Blanco is a 2017 graduate of Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College, majoring in communications.  He was a 2-time All-America selection on the mat, finishing third nationally in 2017 and fifth in 2016.  He recorded 124 career wins and twice served as team captain.  Blanco continued his education at Thomas More, earning a master of arts degree in ethical leadership.

He is a native of Burlington, N.J.
