Anthony Glass begins his third year as director of strength & conditioning at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Glass is a Master Strength & Conditioning Coach, the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength and conditioning coach.  This honor represents professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise, and longevity in the field and is awarded by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association.  During his career, he has trained more than 40 conference championship teams, 10 national championship teams and numerous Olympic and professional athletes.  In addition, he has trained more than 75 first-team All-Americans from 19 different sports.

He came to Ohio Wesleyan from nearby Big Walnut High School, where he spent 2 years as head strength and fitness coach.  Prior to Big Walnut, Glass spent 4 years as director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports at Appalachian State University, working primarily with men's basketball, volleyball, field hockey and men's and women's track & field.  He was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports in March of 2020.

Glass returned to Appalachian State after serving as Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports at The Ohio State University for 17 years.  During his time with the Buckeyes, Glass oversaw the sports performance training programs for 35 sports.  

Before heading to Ohio State, Glass spent 4 years at the University of Georgia, where he directed all facets of the Bulldogs' strength and conditioning training for 20 Olympic sports programs.  He also has worked as head assistant strength coach at Boston College and head strength coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University.  He began his career as a physical education instructor and graduate assistant in the physical education/strength and conditioning program at Northern Illinois University.

Glass is a 1990 graduate of Appalachian State.  He continued his education by earning a master's degree in physical education with a concentration in coaching and sports biomechanics at Northern Illinois.  Glass was inducted into the Caldwell County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.  In addition to his many certifications and professional honors, Glass authored the book "Weight Training:  A Step-by-Step Guide to the Development of a Safe and Sound Program."  He has published 2 speed and agility videos with Coaches Choice and has written numerous articles for sport performance journals and magazines as well as being a regular speaker at state and national conferences.

Glass is a native of Granite Falls, N.C.  He and his wife, Guerdie, have one son, Lee Anthony Jr., and two daughters, Leila and Leena.
