Matt Rice is in his third season as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Ohio Wesleyan University. He serves as the Battling Bishops' offensive coordinator and was part of coaching staffs that were recognized as Region 5 Coaching Staff of the Year by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association in 2025 and North Coast Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2024.
Rice came to Ohio Wesleyan from Christopher Newport University, where he worked as a graduate assistant during the 2023 season, helping the Captains advance to the NCAA Division III semifinals. He also has coaching experience with the Fusion (Va.) Lacrosse Club, serving as offensive coordinator for 4 years.
He is a 2022 graduate of Christopher Newport, majoring in accounting. Rice played 3 years for the Captains, with the team making the national semifinals in 2021 and the national quarterfinals in 2022. He began his collegiate career at NCAA Division I entity Mount St. Mary's, helping the team win the Northeast Conference regular-season championship. Rice continued his education at CNU, earning a master of financial analysis degree.
Rice is a native of Williamsburg, Va.
