Our dream was to be able to play college football together and to see that dream come true is truly a blessing.

Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Mher and Sasoun Tcholakian of the Ohio Wesleyan football team

Class Year: 2020

Major
Mher & Sasoun: Sports Management and Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
Mher: I really enjoyed my visit here. I loved the football team’s coaching staff and the facilities they had to offer. They also offered both of the majors I intended to major in.
Sasoun: I chose OWU for the football program, the beautiful campus, and how close of a relationship there is between professors and students.

How/Why did you choose your major?
Mher: I knew I wanted to study business and be around sports my whole life. Since OWU offered both I decided it was a better idea to double major.
Sasoun: Business and sports interests me and I wanted to learn more.

What positions do you play, and what do you like about the positions?
Mher: I play slot receiver and special teams. I love the feeling I get after I make plays, whether it be making a big catch, blocking, or scoring touchdowns.
Sasoun: I play wide receiver. I love catching the ball and making plays with the ball in my hands.

What are your strengths as an athlete?
Mher: My strengths would be my knowledge of the sport I play, my leadership, my route running ability, my ability to catch the football and my versatility.
Sasoun: I am dedicated and confident, strong, and intelligent on the field.

What is it like being on the Ohio Wesleyan football team together?
Mher: I’ve been on a team with my brother my entire life, no matter the sport, but our dream was to be able to play college football together and to see that dream come true is truly a blessing. Watching both of us prosper in our sport is amazing because I push for my brother to do just as good as I do. When we're both succeeding it’s a way better feeling than if just one of us were.
Sasoun: It is a blessing. I am surrounded by 100 guys who believe in me, and want the same things as I do on and off the field. This is a brotherhood.

Are the two of you competitive with one another?
Mher: My brother and I are the most competitive people I know. Ever since we were younger everything was a competition between us. We always wanted to beat each other in everything, not just sports. However, as we got older we began to make sure we were both succeeding. The competition between us transitioned to competing together against everybody else. We love to succeed, but both of us succeeding together is the ultimate goal.
Sasoun: Yes, out of everyone I have met, I compete the most with my brother. Everything is a competition with us.

If you could visit another time period, when would it be and why?
Mher: I think it would be cool to visit the '60s because of the cars, music and lifestyle.
Sasoun: I would visit the '80s so I could experience how my parents lived. Also, I would love to be able to watch how sports were back in the day and see all of the great players in the Hall of Fame.

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why?
Mher: I would love to be able to shoot spider webs because Spiderman is my favorite superhero.
Sasoun: I would have the ability to fly, so I would never get stuck in traffic.

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
Mher: My favorite place to eat is Victor’s Tacos. I always get a ham, potato, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito.
Sasoun: The Old Bag of Nails. I like to get the classic bacon cheeseburger.
