I could vividly picture myself thriving at this university...

Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Katelyn Bischoff of the Ohio Wesleyan women's golf team.

Name: Katelyn Bischoff

Class Year: Sophomore

Major: Data analytics

Minor: Business

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I was always told that when I found the right school, I would feel it in my heart. When I stepped onto the Ohio Wesleyan campus for a tour, I felt it. I could vividly picture myself thriving at this university.

Why did you choose your major?
I have always been someone who thinks and reads very deeply into everything. I wanted to find a career path that not only exploited my strengths, but gave me an opportunity to change the world. Data Analytics bridges the gap between numbers and real-world behaviors/patterns. It’s the future, and if we do it right, it’s bright.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
Golf has been a huge part of my life since I first started in middle school. I was reluctant at first, but I quickly fell in love. Golf provides structure, discipline, and an excellent challenge. I would not be who I am today without golf, so how could I say goodbye during some of the most vital years of my life?

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
Coach Shipley has instilled it in the entire team that we should never tee off before someone who had a birdie on the previous hole. It’s bad luck! It only took me once to figure that one out.

What are your strengths as an individual?
My work ethic. Giving up is never an option for me. I follow through until the end, and I give my best despite the challenge at hand. Most call it stubborn, but I call it driven.

What are your plans for after graduation?
I am either going to work as a data analyst and attend grad school simultaneously or begin my own business(es).

As a little kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
I never had a specific job in mind, but I have always known that I wanted to change the world. I have always strived to inspire others with a vision of a better future.

Describe yourself in three words
Hard-working. Empathetic. Leader.

What is your favorite quote or a quote you live by?
"Be the moon and inspire people even when you’re far from full."
No matter what you’re going through, we always have the ability to give kindness and encouragement to others.
