Sports is a way to give back not only to the school but the program and people who came before you.

Meet the Bishops:  Get to know a little about Amoreena (Ami) Wright of the Ohio Wesleyan softball team.

Name:  Amoreena Wright

Class Year:  Senior

Majors:  Sociology, psychology

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I picked Ohio Wesleyan because it gave me the opportunity to play both softball and receive a quality education. It allowed me to pursue my interests and still be committed to my academics.

How/Why did you choose your majors?
I've always wanted to help people and give back to the world.  Sociology was my first choice since it takes more of a societal look at fixing problems and helping people. Psychology is a more individual-based look at fixing problems.  With these two combined, I found the best of both worlds.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in sports at OWU because I was not truly done with my athletic career.  I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself.  Sports is a way to give back not only to the school but the program and people who came before you.

What are your strengths as an athlete/as an individual?
I think my strength as an athlete is my commitment to the hard work needed to compete.  I can say I am not the most gifted or talented but I will outwork anybody.  With my hard work, it makes others work harder and makes everyone better at the end of the day.

What are your plans after graduation?
My plan after graduation is Teach For America, where I will be moving to the Bay Area to serve as a non-traditional teacher in an under-resourced school!

What is your favorite place to eat at in Delaware and what is your go-to dish?
Chipotle!  Sofrito bowl to go with guac on the side always hits the spot.

What is your theme song?
Everything I Wanted by Billie Eilish

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would go back to the '70s because I'm kind of a hippie and it was such a good era for music and just loving each other.

What is the best piece of advice you've received?
It takes what it takes, it's never going to be an easy route but its the route that makes the trip worth it.

When you're having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
Well, first I always go to my closest friends, they always seem to make me feel better.  We tend to always just hang out and talk about the odds and ends of life or we throw on a dumb show to laugh the day away.
