Being on a team in college gives you a built-in support system...

Meet the Bishops:  Get to know a little about Lauren Denison of the Ohio Wesleyan women's basketball team.

Name:  Lauren Denison

Class Year:  Freshman

Major:  History education

Minor:  Coaching

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose OWU because it reminded me of home with the close-knit community of Delaware and Ohio Wesleyan. The basketball team made it seem like I have been on the team with them for seasons and it’s only my freshman year.

How/Why did you choose your major?
I want to be a teacher because education is an important part of our society. I want to give the students in my classroom the best opportunity to succeed and have a positive impact on their lives.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in college sports because I love the game of basketball. I have a drive to compete and to be competitive. Also, being on a team in college gives you a built-in support system of people who care about you.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
Before a game I like to get to the gym early to get some shooting in and then I like to just focus on the tasks at hand and imagine the game beforehand. I also have a superstition with the hair tie that I use for games.

What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
Another sport that I would like to try out would be lacrosse. I have pretty good hand-eye coordination. It also seems fun.

What is your theme song?
Shake It Off by Taylor Swift

What is your ideal travel destination?
My ideal travel destination would be to Santorini, Greece. It is a beautiful location with unimaginable views.

When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
If i'm having a bad day something that makes me feel better is when I surround myself with friends. They can always get me to laugh and it just makes the bad day seem better.

What is your favorite stay-at-home activity?
My favorite stay-at-home activity in the fall would be to watch old Disney Channel Halloween movies.
