...I got the time to really fall in love with this campus.
Name: Kory Kaiser
Class Year: 2025
Major: Economics, finance and/or accounting
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I fell in love with the place within the first few times I came onto campus. My sister, Kendall Kaiser, is an OWU grad (class of 2020) so I'd visit her a lot and attend her softball games here at OWU. Since I'd visit all the time, I got the time to really fall in love with this campus. OWU also offers so many academic opportunities, especially in my major, that it was an easy decision to make. I also feel so welcomed on the cross country and track teams, I love my coaches, my teammates and the program itself. Ohio Wesleyan was just the perfect choice overall.
How/why did you choose your major?
I took an AP Macroeconomics course my junior year of high school just to get some college credit and I just loved the topic. I began researching that field of study more and even interned at a financial company the following summer. Ever since then I've just loved economics and finance. This semester I started an accounting class and it just made sense to me so I've since then added accounting to my list of potential majors.
What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory on the OWU cross country team would have to be during a workout from this semester. It's a workout called the Bishop Mile, it involves doing a mile at an 8k race pace, 3 miles at a fast pace then an all-out mile. It's a difficult workout but the entire team was cheering each other on. We were spread out so while some people had time to rest, they'd cheer on those who were still running. We were encouraging one another so much and kept cheering each other on until the end. We all ran really well that day and it just goes to show how close and supportive our cross country team is.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
One of my superstitions for meets and events is that I always have to do the same warm-up and stretches before a race. If I don't do all of them I don't feel prepared. Even if I do them in the wrong order I feel off. Also, before a race I always say a little prayer before it starts.
