...I want to join a field where I can help people recover and get back to doing the things that they love.

Name:  Kasey Schipfer

Class Year:  2024

Major:  Exercise science

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I felt very at home on my visits with the women's basketball team and also academically.  The campus is set up in a very convenient way and I liked that it was a larger campus but still a smaller university.

How/why did you choose your major?
I have always been involved with athletics.  With that, I've had some major injuries occur from sports and so I want to join a field where I can help people recover and get back to doing the things that they love.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I have always loved basketball and wanted to be on a team that will continue to help me build skill.  Also, Coach Lobdell's goal is to develop us into successful young women by doing leadership training and life skills constantly.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory is prior to games we blast music and dance in the locker room!

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
My pre-event ritual is drawing a smiley face on my wrist with a sharpie, and my superstition is not changing up my hairstyle for any game: since high school I have worn my hair the same way every game in a pony-tail braid.

What is an accomplishment that you are proud of in your sport?
I am very proud of the personal goals I set for myself that I reached last year like earning NCAC Athlete of the Week.  I felt like my teammates and coaches really helped push me to be the best I can which then helped me to get better every day.

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that?
I put in a lot of time in the offseason and work on skills outside of practice as well.  My mindset of constantly wanting to get better and being coachable has helped me get to where I am currently.  Also, my work ethic has definitely been the determining factor of my success, whether it is in the weight room or getting extra repetitions after practice.

What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on going to graduate school to become an occupational therapist.

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would visit the 1980s because my parents always listened to '80s music when I was growing up and I think it would be cool to see those singers live.  Also, that was when Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and other great players were in their prime and I would love to watch them play in person.

What is your spirit animal and why?
A wolf, because I rely on my teammates, family, and friends to reach a common goal.  I also have my friends and family members' backs and will be there when they need me.

Which reality show would you like to star on and why?
I would like to be the host on The Bachelorette because I would get to travel to all of the cool destinations they go to, but also because my team always watches the show together.
