I chose OWU for the feel of the campus as well as its location...

Name:  Justin Petty

Class Year:  2022

Majors:  Finance economics, sports and exercise management

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose OWU for the feel of the campus as well as its location being just far enough away from home for me to get away, but also close enough for me to visit home.

How/why did you choose your major?:
I chose my finance major because I like to think of myself as an analytical thinker as well as my interest in financial markets.  I decided to double major in sports management because my dream job would be to manage the finances in the front office of a professional sports team.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
For this season my number one goal is to break 21 seconds in my 50 free as well as leaving behind a culture within the team to help them grow and prosper for years to come.

What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
A sport I played in high school I wish I could play more at OWU would be men's volleyball.

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of myself for working towards and achieving Dean's List the last three semesters.

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that?
I feel as if the reason I was able to achieve Dean's List was based on the people I surrounded myself with.  My fraternity brothers as well as my teammates have been crucial in helping me succeed and helping me understand course material a lot better.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Coach Maloney as well as Coach Bowling were crucial in why I am swimming at OWU today.  I started swimming my junior year of high school because Coach Maloney told me I needed to pick up another sport to stay active and in shape, so I started swimming.  Coach Bowling was my high school swim coach and really pushed me to go to college and pursue swimming. She has offered me not only swim coaching, but life coaching as well.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
Warren Buffett, Joey Votto, and Corinna Kopf

What is your ideal travel destination?
The Greek isles

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would visit the '20s just given the constant party scene.
