Name:  Brooke Hoffman

Class Year:  2024

Majors:  Art education (with a concentration in graphic design) and French

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose OWU mainly for the amazing art department they have.  They have a specific art education major that most of the colleges I looked at didn't offer.  I also wanted to play softball in college, and I knew I would fit well with the culture and program here.  Lastly, I came from a small high school, so I was looking for a college with small class sizes and close relationships with professors.

Why did you choose your major?
My art teachers growing up were very influential to me, so I have wanted to be an art teacher ever since I was little.  I love art, and I also love children.  At the end of the day, I want to be doing something that I actually enjoy for a career.  As for French, I simply love the language and French culture.  I think being bilingual would also be super cool.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I wasn't ready to give up softball after high school.  I love the game, and Division III at OWU gives me the opportunity to play softball and have my academics as a priority.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
The scavenger hunt that the team did last fall that our coaches planned for us was super fun and competitive!

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
As an athlete, I consider myself to be consistent and coachable.  I also am a fast runner which definitely helps in softball.  As an individual, I am extremely organized, have good time management, and am kind.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
I started lefty slapping when I was in the seventh grade, and I took lessons from a girl at a local high school.  I think I would credit a lot of where I am today to her because she first planted that seed in me and helped me to grow it.

What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
I definitely want to take up tennis later in life.  It seems like a good sport to do when I am older.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
Carrie Underwood, Pocahontas, and Blake Lively.

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
The Tropical Blast smoothie from Pulp!

What is your ideal travel destination?  Why?
Paris, France, because I want to see all the pretty architecture, go to art museums, eat great food, and walk along the river. (Fun fact: I am actually going to study abroad there Fall of 2022!)
