...OWU provided me with the opportunity to play the sport I love and be close to family.

Name:  Ralph Good

Class Year:  2022

Major:  Exercise science

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I decided to transfer from Wake Forest University after a year and a half because OWU provided me with the opportunity to play the sport I love and be close to family.  I also felt welcomed by my coaches and teammates.

Why did you choose your major?
I love the hands-on nature of exercise science.  I have always worked to get the most out of myself athletically, and this major allowed me to dig deeper into the science regarding human performance.  This major can be applied to my everyday life, and I love putting what I have learned into practice.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory is not one single moment, but a combination of all of the fun times spent with teammates.  Some of the most memorable include early morning individual groups and trips to Florida.

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
As a catcher, a majority of my athletic strengths are in the defensive category.  I pride myself on putting pitchers in the best position to succeed by being a great blocker and by being a highly effective pitch receiver.  Off of the field, I do all I can to be the best teammate, regardless of the situation.

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
The athletic achievement that I am most proud of is being rostered on the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League at the end of this summer.

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that (goal/accomplishment/etc)?
My life has revolved around this game since I was 5, and I have worked hard to make myself the best player I can be.  The deciding factor in receiving this honor was the coaching staff's trust in my defensive abilities.  I have put everything into this game, and being rostered on a team with the best players I have ever been around was an unforgettable experience that served as an unbelievable start to my final year in the sport.

What do you intend to do after graduation?
After graduation I plan on enlisting in the U.S. Navy to pursue a specialization in battlefield medicine as a part of Naval Special Warfare.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
If I could have a super power it would definitely be teleportation.  I live in a very remote area, and have spent a ton of time in the car just getting to school and sporting events.  I would save a lot of time if I could skip the drive.

What is your ideal travel destination and why?
Alaska.  I love the outdoor activities that it provides and it is mostly untouched by society.  Exploring is something I love to do, and there is no better place for this than Alaska.

What is your spirit animal and why?
My spirit animal would be a wolf because while they are independent, they are also part of a larger group that works to provide for each other.  I also took a spirit animal quiz and that is what I got.
