I especially chose Ohio Wesleyan because it is part of the select few in the Colleges That Change Lives program.

Name:  Avery Panozzo

Class Year:  2025

Major:  undeclared

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because of the welcoming environment and tight-knit community.  When I visited OWU for the first time, I loved the feeling of being on a smaller campus where everyone was kind and outgoing.  The liberal arts education also drew me to OWU because I feel that it prepares me for a variety of career paths.  I especially chose Ohio Wesleyan because it is part of the select few in the Colleges That Change Lives program.

Why did you choose your major?
I am currently undecided for my major, but I am leaning towards a biology major.  I want to pursue biology because it piques my interest and it would allow me to enter a field to help people medically.

What are your strengths as an athlete?
My strengths as an athlete are commitment and loyalty to my team, and my passion for the game. I always have a drive to improve my personal skills and help my teammates achieve their goals.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
My number one goal for the OWU softball team this season is to impress everyone with our young talent and make the NCAC tournament in May.

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my Colorado 4A Softball all-state honorable mention and academic all-state awards from my senior year of high school.  They show my athletic ability as a softball player, but also that I value my academics.

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve those?
I achieved these accomplishments by giving my best in every game and practice.  Putting in the extra work and reps allowed me to play free and loose.  My family, friends, and coaches were also part of the reason for my success.  They are always a great support system for me.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
One specific coach who is an alum from Ohio Wesleyan has greatly helped me get to where I am today. Coach Kaylie Titus, OWU class of 2011, opened so many doors for me to find the perfect college for me.  Not only did she help me find OWU, but she made me a better player and person.  I also want to thank my high school head coach, Dave Atencio, who has pushed me to perfect my game and grow my inner faith.  He has dedicated his life to coaching softball. His impressive record of 400-137 in 28 years shows that he is a great coach, but he is an even greater person who has helped me on and off the field.

What is your theme song?
I would say my theme song is Rocky Mountain High by John Denver.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
I would like to share a meal with Robin Williams, Kevin Hart, and Chris Farley.

What is your ideal travel destination?
My ideal travel destination is Copenhagen, Denmark, because I want to see the Northern Lights.
