I chose Ohio Wesleyan because of the opportunity to better myself, not only in the classroom and professionally but also on the football field...

Name:  Sean Kessel

Class year:  2024

Majors:  Business administration with a concentration in marketing, communication.

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because of the opportunity to better myself, not only in the classroom and professionally but also on the football field.  The prestige of having a degree from OWU also factored into my decision.

Why did you choose your major?
I have always been interested in advertising and the media of how things are sold and marketed.  I also wanted to support my marketing degree with another degree that not only benefits me in a professional life, but also in my social life, and that major is communication.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I always plug my headphones in and just listen to music.

Why do you like your sport/position?
I love football because it has always been my escape.  If I had a bad day or if things may not be going my way in life, football has always been a way for me to just let my mind go and just go have fun and be me.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory while being on the football team was after we beat Wabash in 2021 in overtime, the joy and excitement that not only me but also all of my teammates felt was so surreal and it was just an amazing moment for us as a team.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
There have been a couple coaches in my life that I would thank for helping me get to where I am.  The first two were my high school coaches, Coach Petroff and Coach Narducci, for them giving me a chance to play and improve in high school.  And lastly, I would like to thank Coach (Tom) Watts and Coach (Morgan) Cotter for giving me the opportunity to grow as a player and also as a man here at Ohio Wesleyan.

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
For me, a time that I would love to visit is the '80s. The music and the movies along with the whole aesthetic is enticing.

What is your spirit animal and why?
I'd say mine is a bear because I have a kind personality but I am also protective and defensive of those who I care about.

Where is your ideal travel destination?
My ideal travel destination is Italy because of the historical presence not only in Rome but also in Florence and Venice. Also the food and scenes there have always attracted me there.
