Numbers have always clicked for me, and I've found working with them to be enjoyable...

Name:  Josh Hurst

Class year:  2026

Major:  Finance major with an accounting minor

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose OWU because of how well of a locational fit it was for me.  The football program also gave me the best opportunity to play early in my career.

Why did you choose your major?
Numbers have always clicked for me, and I've found working with them to be enjoyable. There is good money in finance so I thought pairing two things I like together might not be such a bad idea.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My first catch in my college football career.  In my first game of my career I ended up taking a short 6-yard catch 53 yards for a touchdown.  That moment made me feel like I belonged on a college football team, and I hit a pretty good griddy after.

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
I have a pretty set stretching routine about 30 minutes before my position group takes the field (in) pregame, and I do a short prayer while the national anthem is being played.

Why did you choose your position?
I was actually forced to play receiver as I got beat out at running back in middle school.  Worked out in the end, haha.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
Break the single-season receptions record for football.  I am currently 10 receptions away with 3 games remaining.

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?  What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that?
Winning North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year in football last season.  This was a culmination of the hard work and dedication I spent in the summers perfecting my craft at receiver.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Tyler Webb, he is one of my lifelong best friends and a fellow OWU receiver.  I like to think of our relationship as "iron sharpens iron."  We are super hard on each other because we want to see each other succeed.  This effort on his part has helped shape my work ethic and who I am today.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Super speed, similar to The Flash, because my speed would give me abilities such as time travel, flight, and super strength.

Which reality show would you like to star on and why?
Survivor.  I consider myself to be pretty athletic and intellectual, so I think I could win competitions and trick the other players until I won.

What is your theme song?
I Got A Shot by Jack Harlow
