Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because it was a great academic fit along with having great extracurriculars, competitive sports programs, and a beautiful campus.
Why did you choose your major?
I was sort of all over the place with my major my first few years, but settled with business marketing as it had always sparked an interest for me. I love the concepts behind everything in the marketing world and could really see myself being successful in the field (after) graduation.
Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
Sports have always been a part of my life ever since I was a little kid. It's always been a dream of mine to get the opportunity to play sports at a high level and I did everything I could to get work towards making that dream a reality by playing college volleyball and golf here at Ohio Wesleyan.
What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory would definitely have to be beating Calvin in the beginning of the season. Going into that game, the emotions were all over the place as it was such a battle. Our team portrayed such mental toughness as we fought back from losing the first set to taking the next three and winning, 3-1. That was the greatest win the Ohio Wesleyan volleyball (team) had ever seen and it was so cool to be a part of making history for the program.
Why do you like your position?
Being a middle blocker is a tough position because we do a lot of the dirty work and don't get a lot of credit. We are constantly moving laterally, jumping, transitioning, trying to slow the ball down with defensive touches. When we do get our chance to shine, though, it makes it all worth it. I also love being the boss of the net and being in control and aggressive with my power.
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
The number one goal for our team is definitely to win the conference tournament. We want to change the volleyball banner in the gym since the last championship win was back in 1996.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
If I could have a super power it would be to teleport. To be able to go wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted, would be too good to be true. I could see my family and friends whenever I want, along with traveling wherever. Traveling and being with my favorite people are two things that I love and to be able to always have access to that would be amazing. Also, it would just make life so much easier when trying to get to places as well.
What is your theme song?
I take a lot of pride in my music taste, but I'd say the best theme song for me would be "Beat It" by Michael Jackson. I love a good oldies song, especially anything by Michael Jackson. Whenever I hear this song I just want to get up and dance, but it also makes me feel so cool with the electric guitar. It's the perfect hype song that brings all the generations together as I love to bring everyone together with my music taste.
What is your ideal travel destination?
My ideal travel destination would be Iceland or New Zealand. I am a big outdoors/nature person, and Iceland and New Zealand both have breathtaking natural beauty. I will be studying abroad in the spring and one of the places I'm going to is New Zealand, so I'm super excited for that. Also, I've always dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland so I will make it there one day for sure.
