Wall Leads Men's Soccer Past Wabash

Junior forward Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored to give sixth-ranked Ohio Wesleyan the lead, then set up an insurance goal to help seal the outcome as the Bishops defeated Wabash in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Roy Rike Field.

Ohio Wesleyan had a pair of good scoring chances during the first half, both featuring shots by senior forward Tyler Bryant (Chillicothe), but Wabash keeper Ian MacDougall was there each time to preserve the scoreless tie.

MacDougal picked up another pair of saves early in the second half, first stopping Tyler Wall, then denying a shot by senior midfielder Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) less than 20 seconds later.

The Bishops took the lead when Travis Wall centered the ball from the right side to Tyler Wall, then continued toward the Little Giant goal and fielded a return pass from Tyler Wall. Travis Wall's shot to the right side made it 1-0, Ohio Wesleyan, in the 66th minute.

MacDougal kept the game close with another pair of saves on shots by Bryant, stopping one in the 76th minute and another in the 81st minute.

Ohio Wesleyan added to its lead when Tyler Wall played the ball to Travis Wall, who sent the ball across the field from the left side. The ball skipped through the box to junior midfielder Dylan Stone (Easton, Conn./Barlow), who ripped a shot into the right side of the Wabash net.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wabash, 30-8. Sophomore Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) made 5 saves in recording the shutout in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. MacDougall finished with 10 saves for the Little Giants.
