Ohio Wesleyan 1, DePauw 0

Freshman forward Jon Stegner (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored off a pass from junior forward Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) with 2:20 left in the first overtime period, giving 21st-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a key regional win over 10th-ranked DePauw on Friday in Greencastle, Ind.

Senior back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) sent a long ball to Wall on the left side of the field. Wall got past a Tiger defender and crossed the ball to Stegner, whose shot rolled over the goal line, ending the game.

The goal was the first yielded by DePauw this season.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 7-4, in each half of regulation play. Stegner put a shot on goal during the final seconds of the first half, only to see Tiger keeper Nate Sprenkel come up with the save.

The Bishops also threatened to take the lead in the closing minutes of regulation time, earning 4 corner kicks during the final 7 minutes of play. The last one, coming with 30 seconds on the clock, resulted in a header by Stegner that sailed over the crossbar.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 18-9. Sophomore Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) made 4 saves in the Bishop goal, and Sprenkel finished with 10 saves for the Tigers.
