Ohio Wesleyan 1, Ohio Northern 0

Senior back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) scored the game-winning goal with 1:01 left in the second overtime to give 16th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a non-conference win over Ohio Northern on Wednesday at Roy Rike Field.

Freshman midfielder Paolo Bucci (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) centered the ball from the right side of the field to junior forward Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington), who sent the ball on to Greene, who charged in from the left side and finished the chance into the right side of the Polar Bear goal.

The score broke up a goalkeepers' duel between Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and Ohio Northern's Mac Church.

Church turned in an outstanding effort late in the first half when the Bishops had a restart in the Ohio Northern end. Greene's shot to the right side of the goal was blocked by Church. Junior midfielder Tevon Levien (Lower Valley, Cayman Islands/Chesire (Conn.) Academy) was right there for the rebound, but Church also stopped his shot from point-blank range.

Church also denied a shot by senior midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson) during the last minute of regulation time, and grabbed a shot by senior midfielder Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) at the horn ending the first overtime period.

Meanwhile, Hendricks kept the game going with a save of a shot by Christian Huelsman midway through the second overtime.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Ohio Northern, 30-11. Hendricks finished with 6 saves in the Bishop goal, while Church recorded 10 saves for the Polar Bears.
