Ohio Wesleyan 0, Case Reserve 0

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Case Reserve by a total of 26-7, including margins of 13-3 during the second half and 4-0 during the overtime periods, but the 10th-ranked Bishops and Spartans played to a scoreless tie on Wednesday at Roy Rike Field.

The Spartans got the first looks at the opposing goal during the game, first with Rene Silva sending a header toward the Bishop goal and then Eric Erb ripping a shot on goal, but both times, sophomore Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) made the save.

Ohio Wesleyan countered after the second shot, and senior forward Tyler Bryant (Chillicothe/Unioto) saw his shot snagged by Spartan netminder Ben Yabrow, and senior midfielder Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) also had a shot saved by Yabrow in the 15th minute.

The defenses took over from there, with neither team allowing a shot on goal during the final 30 minutes of the first half.

Wall had the best look of the game early in the second half, teeing up a shot that appeared to be bending into the upper left corner of the Case Reserve goal only to see Yabrow make a spectacular leaping save.

Yabrow came back to make back-to-back saves off freshman forward Jon Stegner (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Wall in the 64th minute.

Meanwhile, Hendricks preserved the scoreless tie with saves of shots by Kostis Theoharides in the 68th minute and the 87th minute.

The Bishops had another good opportunity in the 88th minute, when junior forward Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) set up junior midfielder Dylan Stone (Easton, Conn./Barlow) for an open look, but Yabrow was able to run down Stone's shot.

Hendricks finished with 4 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. Yabrow made 9 saves for the Spartans.
