Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Courtney Armsey (Clinton/Massillon Jackson), sophomore Shane Brandt (Painesville/Riverside), junior Tim Brady (Dublin/Jerome), sophomore Silas Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), freshman Dave Mogilnicki (Middleburg Heights/Midpark), and senior Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 17, it was announced by the NCAC.
Armsey, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's track & field team, was named Women's Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week. She won the 55-meter hurdles in :08.92 and added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, and was part of the Bishops' first-place 800-meter relay team in a dual meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
Brandt, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team, was named Men's Distance Runner of the Week. He won the 3000-meter run in 9:02.77 in a dual meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
Brady, a wing on the Ohio Wesleyan men's basketball team, was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week. He had 5 points during a 16-3 run that put OWU ahead to stay and finished with a team-high 23 points in a 71-62 win over Denison on Wednesday. He then led the Bishops with 22 points in a 71-58 win at Hiram on Saturday.
Jolliff, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team, was named Men's Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week. He won the 500-meter run in 1:07.04 and was a part of Ohio Wesleyan's first-place 800-meter relay team in a dual meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
Mogilnicki, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team, was named Men's Field Event Athlete of the Week. He won the long jump with a leap of 21-1 and added second-place finishes in the high jump and triple jump in a dual meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
Zimmerly, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's track & field team, was named Women's Distance Runner of the Week. She won the 3000-meter run in 10:50.32 in a dual meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
