Ohio Wesleyan 2, Kenyon 1

Senior midfielder Jessie Huschart (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) and junior midfielder Emily Sattler (Marysville) scored second-half goals to lift Ohio Wesleyan to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon on Wednesday at Roy Rike Field.

The Bishops had the first good scoring chance of the game when junior midfielder Elizabeth Riggio (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) picked the pocket of a Kenyon defender and was off on a breakaway, but Kenyon keeper Lauren Wolfe was able to deflect Riggio's shot outside the right post.  Ohio Wesleyan got 2 shots off the ensuing corner kick, but Wolfe grabbed the second to defuse the threat.

The Ladies took the lead in the 41st minute when Olivia Lloyd fielded a pass at the top of the penalty area, took a touch to her right, and sent a shot just under the crossbar.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah Zacharias (Marysville) opened the second half with a pair of saves, tracking down shots by Becca Romaine and Lloyd to keep the game at 1-0.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the score in the 62nd minute when Huschart launched a 30-yard shot from the right side that arched into the left side of the Kenyon goal.

The Bishops took the lead in the 70th minute when Riggio centered the ball from the right side through the box to Sattler, who came in from the left side and buried the shot.

From there, the Ohio Wesleyan defense turned in a fine effort in protecting the lead, allowing only 2 shots on goal during the final 20 minutes of play, both long drives by Courtney Hague on which Zacharias made the save.

Kenyon had one final chance after a foul on Ohio Wesleyan gave the Ladies a restart from about 25 yards out with just under a minute to play, but Hague's shot sailed over the crossbar.

Kenyon outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 18-12.  Zacharias finished with 7 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Wolfe had 4 saves for the Ladies.
