Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 67, Denison 64

Senior guard Andy Winters (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) scored 14 of his game-high 20 points during the second half and junior post Reuel Rogers (Columbus/Bexley) rejected his way into the Ohio Wesleyan record books as the Bishops defeated Denison in their regular-season finale on Saturday in Granville.

The Bishops and Big Red will square off again in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday at Branch Rickey Arena when second-seeded Ohio Wesleyan hosts seventh-seeded Denison.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Denison led for most of the first half, taking the lead on Alex Longi's 3-pointer at the 13:52 mark and building an 8-point advantage as Robby Weingart hit a 3-pointer and a lay-in.  The Big Red took a 30-24 lead into the locker room thanks to Weingart's last-minute 3-ball, and Denison still led, 50-43, midway through the second half.

Winters kicked off an 8-1 run with a steal and lay-in, and baskets by senior post Marshall Morris (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks), Winters, and junior wing Dre White (Lima/Bath) evened the score at 51.

Denison retook the lead, and held a 59-55 advantage after Briggs King hit a 3-pointer with 3:34 left, but Ohio Wesleyan answered with a 10-0 run to take the lead for good.

Rogers started off that spurt with a third-chance offensive-rebound bucket, and Winters followed with a pair of hoops to give the Bishops a 61-59 lead at the 1:59 mark.  Another Rogers jumper from the lane and a pair of free throws from junior guard Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) gave Ohio Wesleyan a 65-59 lead with :44 to play.

Darius White drilled a 3-pointer to bring the hosts within 65-62, and the Big Red fouled Rieger immediately.  The normally reliable Rieger missed both free throws, however, giving Denison a chance at the tying basket, but King's 3-pointer was off the mark.  Morris hauled down the rebound and the sequence repeated itself, with Denison fouling immediately and Morris missing both free throws, giving the Big Red the ball with :21 to play.

With a foul to give before they hit the double bonus, the Bishops fouled Weingart before Denison could attempt a 3-point shot, and Weingart missed the front end of the one-and-one.

Morris grabbed that rebound, was fouled, and sank both free throws with :07 remaining to seal the outcome.

Winters led the Bishops with 20 points and 4 assists.

Rogers blocked 8 Denison shots, breaking the school record of 7 set by Dale Eilrich against Franklin & Marshall on Dec. 29, 1990.  The 8 rejections raised his career total to 158, surpassing the Ohio Wesleyan mark of 152 set by Mark Oberholtzer during the 1981-85 seasons.  Along with the 8 blocks, Rogers finished with 11 points and 9 boards.

Morris finished with a double-double, collecting 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dimonde Hale led Denison with 15 points.
