Senior midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) scored to erase a 1-0 deficit, but Capital got the game-winner with 1:42 left in regulation time to upset the 17th-ranked Bishops in non-conference play on Wednesday in Columbus.

Junior forward Matt Cohen (Cincinnati/Seven Hills) had the game's first shot on goal, with Crusader keeper Trevor Funk saving his shot just over 5 minutes into the game.  Shots by sophomore forward Kyle Baum (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and junior midfielder Ricardo Balmaceda (Houston, Texas/The Village School) met a similar fate in the 24th and 39th minutes respectively.

Capital's best chance was a shot by Hunter Stiger that senior goalkeeper Colin Beemiller (Pickerington/North) stopped in the 19th minute.

Senior forward Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) tested Funk early in the second half, with the Crusader keeper making the save.  Funk also stopped shots by junior midfielder Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) and Rieger just 35 seconds apart in the 59th minute.

Beemiller kept the game scoreless with a save of a shot by Hunter Booth in the 55th minute.

The Crusaders took the lead in the 70th minute when R.G. Florey got to the rebound of a blocked shot just outside the penalty area and slipped a shot past Beemiller.

Bloecher answered just over a minute later, ripping a shot from the top of the box and into the Capital goal.

Ohio Wesleyan had a couple of opportunities to take the lead, earning a pair of corner kicks down the stretch, but Funk stopped a shot by junior midfielder Lonnie Barnes (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) in the 82nd minute, and a shot by freshman midfielder David Robinett (Cincinnati/Indian Hill) was wide in the 86th minute.

The Crusaders got the go-ahead score with 1:42 to play in regulation time when Florey sent the ball to Calvin Saunders, whose shot from inside the box eluded Beemiller.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Capital, 24-14.  Beemiller had 2 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.  Funk finished with 8 saves for Capital.
