Senior midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and junior midfielder Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) scored goals during the closing minutes of regulation time to give 24th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference victory over DePauw on Saturday evening at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

Junior goalkeeper Colin Beemiller (Pickerington/North) kept the game scoreless during the early going, tracking down shots by DePauw's Andy Morrison in the second minute, by Brandon Johnson in the 18th minute, and by Mitch Reavis in the 26th minute.

Bloecher had the Bishops' first shot on the goal in the 30th minute, but DePauw keeper Jake Pezzuto was there for the stop.

The Bishops started putting together more threats during the second half, with sophomore forward Kyle Baum (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sending a shot just outside the right post in the 50th minute, and senior back Drew Pang (Dublin/Coffman) having a header off a Bishop corner kick sail over the crossbar.

Senior forward Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) worked free for a shot from the top of the box but had it go right in the 66th minute, and junior forward Evan Lee (Toledo/St. Johns) had a shot from the middle saved by Pezzuto in the 71st minute.

After a DePauw foul in the 85th minute, Bloecher took the restart from 25 yards out and put the ball into the back of the DePauw goal to give the Bishops the lead.

The Tigers had a pair of chances at the tying goal, but Morrison's shot from the left edge of the penalty area was blocked by the Bishop defense in the 87th minute, and in the 88th minute, Julian Gonzalez drove into the penalty area from the right side and got a look at the goal, but Beemiller tracked down the shot to preserve the Bishop lead.

Just 25 seconds later, Bloecher was fouled inside the penalty area, and Schaefer converted the ensuing penalty kick with 2:14 left in regulation time.

DePauw had one more chance when Reavis teed up a restart from nearly 30 yards out in the 89th minute, but Beemiller made the save.

"This was the best 90 minutes we've played all year," said Bishop head coach Jay Martin.  "We played the full 90, and everybody who went in contributed.  Colton (Bloecher) was unbelievable.  He just controls the game.  Kyle Baum played well, Colin (Beemiller) played well, Lonnie Barnes has been sensational this year, and (Evan) Lee played his best game of the year."

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 19-10.  Beemiller made 6 saves in recording the shutout.  Pezzuto finished with 6 saves in the Tiger goal.
