Junior midfielder Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal midway through the second overtime period to give 21st-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Allegheny on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

The win, combined with Wabash's win over Kenyon on Saturday, leaves Ohio Wesleyan alone in first place in the NCAC standings with a 5-0 record.  Wabash and Kenyon are tied for second place at 4-1, with DePauw in fourth place at 4-2.

In the second overtime, junior midfielder Lonnie Barnes (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) sent a long pass ahead that freed Schaefer on a breakaway, and Schaefer's shot found the back of the Gator net to end the contest.

Senior midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) had a look at the Gator goal in the fifth minute, but his header shot was saved by Allegheny keeper Jake Pugilese.

Junior foward Matt Cohen (Cincinnati/Seven Hills) had a shot saved by Pugilese in the 16th minute, and the Gator keeper got some help later in the half when a Bloecher shot hit the crossbar and a shot by freshman defender Trey Olsen (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) hit the post.

Allegheny threatened in the waning minutes of the half, with shots by Jacob Hanko and Liam McNamee saved by junior goalkeeper Colin Beemiller (Pickerington/North).

Sophomore midfielder Nick Norman (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) and Bloecher tested Pugilese early in the second half, with the Gator keeper making both stops, and Pugilese snared a header by sophomore forward Kyle Baum (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) in the 77th minute.

Junior back Matt DiCesare (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) had a look in the 88th minute, but Pugilese was there for the save.

In the overtime period, Schaefer had a shot stopped by Pugilese, and Bloecher got to the offensive rebound first but his shot was high.

After an Allegheny corner, McNamee had a shot deflected over the crossbar, and on the ensuing corner, Beemiller saved a shot by Stefano Wach.

Senior forward Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) nearly ended the game early in the second overtime, taking the ball after a throw-in and breaking in the Gator goal, only to see Pugliese deflect the shot.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Allegheny, 20-12.  Beemiller finished with 4 saves in recording the shutout, the Bishops' fourth in a row.  Pugilese posted 9 saves for Allegheny.
