Junior wing Nick Felhaber (Holland/Toledo St. John's) hit a 3-pointer with :06 to play to lift 13th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan to a North Coast Athletic Conference triumph over Kenyon on Saturday in Gambier.
Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 65-63 lead on a 3-pointer by senior wing Dre White (Lima/Bath) with 1:30 to play, but Kenyon evened the game at 65 on a Julian Pavlin jumper with :43 remaining.
Felhaber's shot gave the Bishops a 68-65 lead, and a game-tying 3-point attempt by Tim Connolly was off the mark.
Kenyon raced to a 16-5 lead, with Brian Lebowitz scoring 3 hoops and Brien Comey adding 2 more Lebowitz and Connolly sank 3-pointers.
The Bishops used an 9-1 run to pare the deficit to 3 points, getting baskets from senior guard Taylor Rieger (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and White before senior post Reuel Rogers (Columbus/Bexley) kicked in 2 buckets and a free throw.
Rieger and Rogers contributed 3-point plays and sophomore post Matt Jeske (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) added a 3-pointer to help Ohio Wesleyan to a 34-33 lead, and the half would end with the teams even at 36.
Kenyon built a 47-40 lead with the help of baskets by John Bray and Julian Pavlin, and the Lords still led, 54-47, with 11:11 to play.
A White lay-in and trifectas by Felhaber and sophomore post Claude Gray (Avon) brought the Bishops within a single marker at 56-55, and after a Lebowitz free throw, it was Rogers knocking down a 3-pointer for a 58-57 Bishop lead with 4:46 remaining.
The teams traded points twice, capped by freshman guard Seth Clark (Lewis Center/Olentangy) driving for a lay-in that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead, 62-61, with 2:25 left, to set up the final few minutes.
Rogers led the Bishops with 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. White added 14 points and snared a team-high 12 boards. Rieger led the Bishops with 4 assists.
Connor Garrity led Kenyon with 18 points.
