Recent Ohio Wesleyan University graduate Mason Espinosa (Cookeville, Tenn.) has been invited to rookie minicamp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Espinosa, who started at quarterback for Ohio Wesleyan for the last 4 seasons, will report to the Steelers' camp in Pittsburgh from Thursday through Saturday.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity," Espinosa said.  "I don't see this as an end result, but as a starting point.  My goal is to go in and work as hard as I can, and make them say 'we can't keep this kid away.' "

Espinosa led the NCAC and ranked fifth in NCAA Division III in passing yardage (325.8/game), and led the NCAC and tied for 17th in NCAA Division III in total offense (314.9 yards/game).  His 21 touchdown passes ranked second in the NCAC.  Espinosa was named the NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2012, and was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2010, 2011, and 2013.

"Mason has worked extremely hard to be given this opportunity," said Ohio Wesleyan head football coach Tom Watts.  "He's very intelligent, and I'm sure he'll make a great first impression on the Steelers.  We're excited for him to take the next step and see what the future holds."
