Junior midfielder Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) converted a penalty kick to erase a 1-0 deficit, but neither team could assemble a go-ahead goal and 12th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan and Centre played to a tie in non-conference action on Saturday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

Centre had the game's first shot on goal on Pavel Terselich's drive in the 18th minute, but senior Colin Beemiller (Pickerington/North) made the save for Ohio Wesleyan.

Just over 2 minutes later, junior midfielder Lonnie Barnes (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) tested Colonel keeper Ohan Missirian-Dill, but Missirian-Dill came off his line and made the play.

The Bishops assembled a flurry of shots late in the half after earning a corner kick.  Senior midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) sent the corner kick back to the goal mouth, and junior midfielder Gunnar Bloecher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) followed with a shot that was blocked by the Centre defense.  Colton Bloecher got to the rebound, but his shot in traffic was grabbed by Missirian-Dill.

Beemiller kept the game scoreless by grabbing Noah Wesley-Chevalier's shot with 8:22 left in the half.

The Colonels took the lead early in the second half after the Bishop defense blocked a shot by Cameron Miller.  The loose ball went to Christian Gateskill, whose shot from the top of the box found the back of the net with 36:50 left in regulation time.

Colton Bloecher nearly tied the game in the 57th minute, but his shot off a Schaefer centering pass was tipped over the crossbar by Missirian-Dill.

In the 62nd minute, Centre's Jacob Trumbull was assessed a red card, putting the Colonels a man down for the remainder of the game.

The Bishops earned a corner kick in the 65th minute, but Gunnar Bloecher's header went across the goal mouth and just out of reach of an oncoming Barnes at the right post.  Less than 2 minutes later, it was Schaefer threatening the Centre goal, but his shot was stopped by Missirian-Dill.

Colton Bloecher was fouled inside the box in the 72nd minute, and Schaefer stepped to the spot and converted the penalty kick to even the game at 1-1.

Beemiller made a pair of saves during the closing minutes of regulation time, grabbing a shot by Phillip Shehan in the 83rd minute, then tipping a Gateskill shot over the crossbar with 2:17 to play.

Junior forward Evan Lee (Toledo/St. Johns) made a run at the Centre goal early in the first overtime period, but sent his shot over the crossbar.

Beemiller made the stop on a header by Wesley-Chevalier after a Colonel corner kick in the 97th minute, and Missirian-Dill stopped a Lee shot after a restart in the 100th minute.

Schaefer had the best look at a goal during the second overtime period, but his 30-yard drive after a restart was stopped by Missirian-Dill.

"This was a good game, especially after Wednesday," said Ohio Wesleyan head coach Jay Martin.  "All we were focused on tonight was working hard and playing the game.  (Centre is) a good team.  That's a difficult style to play against.  Overall, we played very, very well.  (Brian) Schaefer had a very good game, Colton (Bloecher) was steady, and Lonnie (Barnes) was steady.  All we're trying to do is get better one game at a time, and we did that."

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Centre, 21-17.  Beemiller finished with 6 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Missirian-Dill recorded 7 shots for the Colonels.
