Junior midfielder Phoenix Neitzelt (Delaware/Hayes) scored the go-ahead goal as Ohio Wesleyan extended its winning streak to 7 games and its unbeaten string to 9 games with a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Saturday in Oberlin.

Senior forward Brian Schaefer (Chatham, N.J.) had the Bishops' first look at the Oberlin goal, but his shot in the fifth minute was saved by Oberlin keeper Koryn Kraemer.

Kraemer also stopped shots by junior midfielder Neil Wilson (Batavia) in the 13th and 18th minutes.

Oberlin's best chance of the half came in the 42nd minute, when a header by Louis Naiman was tracked down by junior goalkeeper Ben Farynowski (Grandview Heights).

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Oberlin, 8-3, during the first half, and the Bishops added to that margin to open the second half, firing 5 shots toward the Yeomen net during the first 15 minutes of play.  Drives by Schaefer and senior midfielder Lonnie Barnes (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) were stopped by Kraemer in a span of 12 seconds.  The Bishops got a corner kick after the save on Barnes, but were unable to manufacture a shot.

The Bishops took the lead in the 67th minute after a free kick.  Senior back Mason Hoge (Mason) lined up from about 45 yards out and sent the ball into the penalty area, with Neitzelt heading it home for the 1-0 lead.

Schaefer had a look at an insurance goal just over 2 minutes later, but Kraemer made the stop to keep the Yeomen within 1-0.

Farynowski preserved the lead in the 81st minute, recording a save on a shot by Oberlin's John Ingham.  Ingham would have another chance in the 88th minute, but his shot went high.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Oberlin, 20-8.  Farynowski made 3 saves in recording the shutout.  Kraemer was credited with 8 saves for the Yeomen.
