Freshman forward Dom Calabrese (Beavercreek) put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard and junior goalkeeper J.P. Baughman (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) chalked up his sixth shutout of the month as the 22nd/23rd-ranked Bishops extended their unbeaten string to 11 games with a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wittenberg on Tuesday in Springfield.

Senior midfielder Will Sharer (Avon) had a look at the Tiger goal less than 2 minutes into the game, but his shot went wide right.

Ohio Wesleyan earned a corner kick in the 11th minute, and shortly thereafter, junior midfielder Adam Yingling (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) sent a header toward the Tiger goal, but Wittenberg keeper Jack Snider was there for the save.

Calabrese rang up a goal exactly 24 minutes into the contest to put the Bishops on the scoreboard, with junior midfielder Antonio Romanelli (Lewis Center/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) credited with an assist on the play.

Calabrese had another look at the Tiger goal in the 30th minute, but Snider made the stop.

Just over a minute later, Wittenberg's Austin Lewis had a shot at the equalizer, but Baughman made the save.

Early in the second half, sophomore midfielder Matt Yingling (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) worked free for a shot, but Tiger keeper Jason Bowen made the save.  Bowen also stopped shots by Romanelli in the 56th minute and by junior back Charles Branche III (Washington, D.C./Landon (Md.) School) in the 60th minute.

Matt Yingling scored in the 64th minute to increase the Bishop lead to 2-0.

Freshman midfielder Hector Gomez (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) added to the Ohio Wesleyan lead with a goal in the 78th minute, with Romanelli credited with an assist on the play.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wittenberg, 23-6.  Baughman made 1 save for Ohio Wesleyan.  Snider and Bowen combined for 6 saves for the Tigers.
