Box Score
Wabash 76, Ohio Wesleyan 67

Freshman wing Gabe Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Wheaton St. Francis) and junior guard Jaret Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) scored 3 points apiece during a 10-2 run that narrowed an 11-point deficit to just 3, but Wabash held off the rally and went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Bishops trailed, 66-55, after a lay-in by Wabash's Connor Rotterman with 5:39 left in regulation time.

Junior guard Tristin Tillman (Bellefontaine) hit a pair of free throws on Ohio Wesleyan's ensuing possession, then Johnson stole the ball and converted a 3-point play to make it a 66-60 game with 5:05 remaining.  Junior post Grant Gossard (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) knocked down a jumper from the lane, and after Wabash's Jack Davidson sank a pair of free throws, Gerber connected from long range to bring the Bishops within 68-65 with 2:20 to go.

After a stop on the defensive end, freshman post Nick Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) had a look at a game-tying 3-pointer but the shot was off the mark, with the Bishops retaining possession.  Gerber then drove for the basket, but his lay-in didn't fall with 1:30 left.

Davidson countered with a 3-pointer for Wabash, then sank a pair of free throws for a 73-58 Little Giant lead with :33 remaining.  Rotterman followed with a pair of free throws at the :23 mark to seal the outcome.

Wabash broke a 15-15 tie with a Harrison Hallstrom jumper and a Colten Garland 3-pointer to take its biggest lead of the first half, only to see the Bishops respond with a 3-pointer by freshman wing Ethan Stanislawski (Massillon/Jackson) and a Gossard lay-in to even the game at 20.

A Gerber 3-pointer broke a 27-27 tie and gave Ohio Wesleyan its biggest lead of the half, but the visitors scored the next 7 points, highlighted by a Garland 3-pointer, and would take a 34-32 lead at the intermission.

Carlson, Gerber, and Gossard connected on 3-pointers during a 15-5 spurt that turned a 36-32 deficit into a 47-41 Bishop lead with 14:24 left in regulation time, and Ohio Wesleyan still led, 52-47, after Stanislawski scored on a fast break with 11:30 remaining.

The Bishops then went more than 4 minutes without a field goal while Wabash went on a 19-3 run highlighted by a 3-pointer and a pair of baskets by Rotterman, the latter giving the visitors the 66-55 lead.

Stanislawski led the Bishops with 16 points.  Gossard finished with his third consecutive double-double, posting 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Carlson scored 13 points.  Freshman guard Curtis White (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Davidson and Kellen Schreiber had 15 points apiece for Wabash.
