Junior forward Ashley Smiley (Delaware/Hayes) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Wooster in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

It marked the third consecutive game in which Smiley rang up the game-winner.

Freshman defender Isabella Geiler (Cincinnati/Mercy McAuley) centered the ball from the left side to Smiley, who arched a long shot over Wooster keeper Molly Hutter and into the back of the net with 1:13 left in the first overtime period.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened in the early going, with sophomore forward Julia Dickman (Marysville) and sophomore midfielder Olivia Adkins (Hudson) putting shots on goal during the first 10 minutes of play, only to see Hutter make the save each time.

Wooster's Holly Thompson had a good look at the Ohio Wesleyan goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.) tipped the shot outside of the right post.

In the 57th minute, Wooster earned a corner kick and Krenare Rakoci lined up a shot toward the right post, but Smiley cleared the ball away from the goal line to preserve the scoreless tie.

The visitors took the lead in the 66th minute when an attempted clear by Floyd was blocked by Thompson.  The ball caromed back into the penalty area, and Thompson chased it down and scored into the empty goal.

The Bishops evened the score in the 74th minute.  Freshman defender Ellie Redman (Dublin/Coffman) sent a diagonal pass from the left side into the penalty area.  It appeared that Hutter was set to field the rolling ball, but junior midfielder Kortney McGinnis (Grove City/Central Crossing) darted in, poked the ball away, got past a Wooster defender and shot back to the right side for the equalizer.

Junior defender Caitlyn Smith (Baltimore/Watkins Memorial) put a 30-yard free kick on goal in the 76th minute, but Hutter stopped the drive.

In the overtime session, Wooster's Miura Wiley had a chance to end the game with a 6-yard shot after a free kick, but Floyd was there for the save.  Ohio Wesleyan turned play the other way, and Dickman sent a crossing pass toward Geiler at the right post, but Geiler's shot stayed just wide of the post.

Wooster outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 16-13.  Floyd recorded 7 saves in the Bishop goal.  Hutter finished with 8 saves for the Fighting Scots.
