Senior forward Lexie Chafin (Powell/Olentangy Orange) scored to wipe out a 1-0 deficit, but Allegheny got the game-winner just a blink of an eye ahead of the final horn and escaped the Jay Martin Soccer Complex with a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Saturday.
With time running out in the second overtime period, Allegheny's Amy Barra crossed the ball into the box from the left side, and the horn sounded as Shannon McGuinn's shot found the back of the net.
Ohio Wesleyan enjoyed a 7-3 advantage in shots during the first half, but it was the Gators that took the lead when Emily Orr scored off a deflection inside the penalty area.
The Bishops evened the score in the 75th minute after a corner kick. Senior forward Ashley Smiley (Delaware/Hayes) sent the ball into the box, and Chafin headed it home with 25:55 left in regulation time.
In the 79th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.) received a red card for a hard foul, and junior Emma Hall (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) came on in goal.
Despite playing shorthanded, the Bishops had looks at the go-ahead goal by sophomore midfielder Brooklynn Buck (Kings Mills/Kings) and junior midfielder Kortney McGinnis (Grove City/Central Crossing), but Allegheny keeper Maya Hackman made the save each time.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Allegheny, 3-0, during the first overtime period, with Smiley and sophomore forward Julia Dickman (Marysville) putting shots on goal, but Hackman kept the game going with 3 more saves.
Hall and Hackman each made 2 saves during the second extra session.
