Junior forward Ashley Smiley (Delaware/Hayes) rang up her second collegiate hat trick to power Ohio Wesleyan past Oberlin in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday in Oberlin.

Smiley put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the fourth minute with an unassisted goal.

Junior midfielder Caroline Elliott (Bexley) had a couple of looks at the Oberlin goal later in the first half, but Yeowomen keeper Isabelle Smith stopped those shots.

Smiley increased the Bishop lead to 2-0 in the 76th minute, with sophomore forward Julia Dickman (Marysville) credited with an assist on the play.

Smiley completed the hat trick with a goal in the 85th minute, courtesy of a pass from senior forward Lexie Chafin (Powell/Olentangy Orange).

The hat trick was Smiley's first since Oct. 13, 2018, when she collected 3 goals against Brooklyn, and raised her season total to an NCAC-leading 11 goals.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Oberlin, 14-7.  Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.) finished with 4 saves in the Bishop goal.  Smith was credited with 6 saves for the Yeowomen.
