Wittenberg opened the game with a 16-0 run and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in a quarterfinal contest of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday in Springfield.
The 22nd-ranked Tigers advance to face third-seeded Wabash, an 87-76 winner over Hiram on Tuesday, in a tournament semifinal matchup on Friday at Wooster.
Wittenberg opened the evening's scoring with a 3-point play by James Johnson, and a pair of Connor Seipel hoops and a Johnson jumper extended the lead to 9-0. Another pair of Seipel hoops sandwiched around a Landon Martin 3-pointer gave the hosts a 16-0 lead with 13:16 left in the first half.
Junior guard Jaret Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) converted a 3-point play to put the Bishops on the scoreboard, and the Bishops were still within 34-20 after a Gerber 3-pointer late in the first half, but the Tigers opened the second half with an 11-0 run that included 3 baskets by Seipel and a Johnson 3-pointer.
Sophomore wing Dawsin Tillman (Bellefontaine) led the Bishops with 11 points. Freshman wing Ethan Stanislawski (Massilon/Jackson) had a team-high 6 rebounds.
Seipel led Wittenberg with 29 points.
