Freshman wing Ethan Stanislawski (Massilon/Jackson) opened the second half with a 3-pointer to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 49-42, but Wittenberg countered with a 16-2 run and went on to record a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday in Springfield.

Wittenberg scored on its first 3 possessions to take a 6-0 lead, but the Bishops remained within striking distance, pulling within 3 points on multiple occasions, before the hosts extended the lead into double figures with the help of 3-pointers by Jordan Welch and James Johnson.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied with 3-pointers from junior guard Tristin Tillman (Bellefontaine) and freshman wing Gabe Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Wheaton St. Francis) to narrow the gap to 36-32 with 4:47 left in the first half.

Jordan Pumroy beat the first-half buzzer with a lay-in to give the Tigers a 49-39 lead at the break.

Stanislawski opened the second-half scoring with a 3-pointer to bring the Bishops within 49-42, but Wittenberg scored the next 11 points, with Connor Seipel scoring 3 buckets and Pumroy adding another 3-pointer along the way, and the margin would remain in double digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

Stanislawski and junior post Grant Gossard (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) scored 10 points apiece for Ohio Wesleyan, with Gossard also gathering a team-high 4 rebounds.  Johnson led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Pumroy and Seipel had 16 points apiece for Wittenberg.
