Freshman wing Ethan Stanislawski (Massilon/Jackson) scored 5 points and junior post Grant Gossard (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) added 4 during a 12-0 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and Stanislawski and junior guard Jaret Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) combined to go 6-for-6 from the line during the closing seconds as Ohio Wesleyan defeated DePauw in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Tigers led, 59-52, after Matt Mahlke hit a jumper from the lane with 6:14 left in regulation time.

Freshman post Nick Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) knocked down a 3-pointer and Stanislawski followed with a pair of free throws to make it a 2-point game before a Stanislawski 3-pointer put the Bishops ahead to stay.  Stanislawski then fed Gossard for a dunk that rattled home with 2:41 left, and Gossard then drove for a lay-in that gave the Bishops 64-59 lead with 2:02 remaining.

DePauw ended the Bishop run with a pair of free throws by Nolan Ginther, but Carlson countered with a pair of free throws after he was fouled on a 3-point field goal attempt.

Ginther sank a pair of free throws with :22 left to bring the visitors within 66-63, and trading fouls for possessions, the Tigers sent Stanislawski to the line twice and Gerber once, but each Bishop would sink both free throws to push the Ohio Wesleyan lead back to 5 points.

Ohio Wesleyan had broken a 5-5 tie with a 14-3 run that included a 3-pointer and 2 buckets from the lane by Gossard and was finished by a 3-point play from Carlson that put the Bishops ahead, 19-8.

Caymn Lutz drove for a lay-in and hit a 3-pointer as the Tigers scored the next 7 points to pull within 19-15, only to see Ohio Wesleyan score 8 points in a stretch of 74 seconds on 3-pointers by Gerber and freshman wing Gabe Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Wheaton St. Francis) and a Gossard lay-in.  The Bishops would lead by as many as 16 points and took a 38-27 lead into the locker room.

Carlson drilled a 3-pointer early in the second half for a 41-29 Bishop lead, but the Tigers countered with a 21-6 run that saw Cole Jenkins connect on a pair of 3-pointers and Ginther close out the rally with a jumper that gave the visitors a 50-47 lead with 11:22 remaining.

A Johnson 3-pointer pulled the Bishops even at 52, but DePauw scored the next 7 points, capped by the Mahlke jumper that produced the 59-52 lead.

Stanislawski led the Bishops with 23 points.  Gossard recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Carlson also scored 15 points.  Gerber had a team-high 5 assists.
