Denison scored a pair of first-half goals and went on to record a win over Ohio Wesleyan in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday in Granville.

The Big Red took the lead in the 17th minute when Riley Hammond set up Leland Keller for a goal.

Keller paid it forward by assisting Abby King on a score in the 27th minute, giving Denison a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore forward Julia Dickman (Marysville) had a look at the Denison goal in the 41st minute, but Big Red keeper Patil Tcholakian made the save.

Junior midfielder Kortney McGinnis (Grove City/Central Crossing) lined up a shot at the Big Red goal in the 69th minute, but Tcholakian was again there for the save.

Denison outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 23-5.  Junior Emma Hall (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) posted 9 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.  Tcholakian and Maddie Coyne combined for 2 saves for the Big Red.
